Knightsbridge EMGUKIT3 GU10 LED Emergency Conversion Kit
The Knightsbridge EMGUKIT3 emergency conversion kit enables a compatible mains-voltage GU10 LED downlight to provide emergency illumination following a power failure. It is suitable for GU10 LED lamps rated up to a maximum of 7W, subject to compatibility testing.
The kit contains an inverter and rechargeable battery pack inside a protective polycarbonate casing. It is pre-wired with easy-fix connectors and includes an LED charge indicator, helping simplify installation and routine inspection.
Please note: this is an emergency conversion kit rather than a complete downlight. The GU10 lamp, lampholder and downlight fitting are not included.
Three-Hour Emergency Duration
Following an interruption to the mains supply, the battery pack powers the connected compatible GU10 LED lamp for up to three hours. This allows suitable downlights to form part of an emergency-lighting scheme for escape routes, corridors, stairwells and other designated areas.
The suitability, positioning and quantity of converted fittings should be determined by a competent person in accordance with the relevant emergency-lighting requirements.
Maintained and Non-Maintained Operation
The EMGUKIT3 supports maintained, non-maintained and switched emergency configurations:
- Maintained: the connected lamp operates normally and remains illuminated at its emergency output following a mains failure
- Non-maintained: the lamp activates only when the mains supply fails
- Switched maintained: normal illumination can be switched while the emergency function remains permanently supplied
Compatible GU10 LED Lamps
The kit is designed for use with compatible 230V GU10 LED lamps up to 7W. Lamp compatibility must be checked before installation, as not every GU10 LED lamp or internal driver will operate correctly from an emergency inverter.
The completed emergency fitting is non-dimmable. It should not be connected to a dimmer, even if the chosen GU10 lamp is normally described as dimmable.
Installation Features
The inverter and battery are enclosed within a compact protective casing measuring 185mm long, 50mm wide and 40mm high. A 55mm access cut-out is required to pass the enclosed unit through the ceiling.
Pre-wired easy-fix connectors help reduce installation time, while the visible LED indicator confirms that the unit is connected to the mains charging supply.
